DitmasParkBlog Launches "Faces of Ditmas"

Apparently in an effort to show just how happy everyone in the neighborhood is and how diverse Victorian Flatbush is, the cretins over at DPB have launched an ongoing photo blog of the residents. Interesting as they have yet to feature our latino neighbors. Moreover, the blacks that they feature are either Haitian drummers or a homeless guy. Wonderful! Would someone please remind DPB that there are plenty of upper-middle class black and latinos living in the beautiful homes in our neighborhood who could be featured.

Gentrification is an ugly thing.

  1. Wow is this an ignorant comment. The first photograph in the "Faces of Ditmas" Park series appears to be an "upper-middle class black" family, and one of the posts today includes a woman named Selena Martinez.

Moreover, if you look at all the posts just from today, they picture and or/address people of all backgrounds and incomes: the library, running, fishing, the mural at 217.

There is a lot of racism in the world. Gentrification has intended and unintended victims. But you are perpetuating racism by talking about Ben's "cousins" in Israel, and you are only seeing the Ditmas Park Blog through your own ugly, distorted lens.

I think this was said earlier - but please, get help.

  2. Gentrification -- improving the housing stock of a neighborhood as honest, educated and concerned citizens move in to make the neighborhood a better place -- is always good news.

Does anyone want to gentrify Haiti? There's a country that needs a complete overhaul -- in every way.
