Reason Number 80641 Why we don't like the gentrification of Ditmas Park

USA Today featured an interesting article today about how affluent minorities live in poorer neighborhoods and are quite frankly happy. It's true! My husband and I are minorities and loved this neighborhood because our neighbors were both low income and middle-upper income. We all were minorities though and could share our cultural beliefs with one another. It was nice to be able to come home from work (in predominantly white environments) and unwind with your neighbors who could share your trials. It sucks seeing these new white establishments where people like Ben and Liena patronize which leads to higher rents which forces out the TRUE gems of the neighborhood. One of my main problems with white people like those that run the Ditmas Park Blog is that they are selfish. They are not interested in learning about your community and background and how to preserve the community for which they have taken over. They want YOU to adapt for their own selfish reasons.

The only way that we can truly SAVE Ditmas Park is to do whatever possible to make sure that minorities of all economic backgrounds can stay in this neighborhood and not be priced out by gentrifying selfish trolls.

  2. First off, congratulations on actually citing something. You're on your way!

I love that you are constantly criticizing DPB for 'lack of diversity' and yet you loved that, in your eyes, DP was a place for you to socialize with ONLY minorities. (Doesn't sound too diverse.)

I would love to know what are the "TRUE gems" that have been forced out. Please explain.

I would love to also hear you explain how Ben and Liena set up DPB, which by the way they did out of their free time and for no money, consistently discuss neighborhood happenings regardless of race, gender, or belief, but do so only as propaganda for their ultimate goal of "wanting YOU to adapt for their selfish reasons."

I would love to know your plan Tina. What are you going to do to "truly SAVE Ditmas Park"? I haven't heard any action points from you only criticisms.

    Looking forward to your thoughts.
