Ben Smith wants you to be afraid of black men

I am going to be having surgery in the next couple of weeks and am dealing with other personal stuff, but I just wanted to check in to show you the blatant race-baiting being done by the owner of DitmasParkBlog.

I am not going to link to the disgusting piece but right now DitmasParkBlog has a post warning people to beware of a fictitious scary black man. Disgusting. They don't necessarily know if the person is actually black man or just is tanned but here they go posting verbatim an "alert."

Absolutely disgusting but not surprising. I have enough stress but I guess they feel why not pile on.

  1. First of all, that was posted over a year ago, and the idea that you probably go through that blog looking for any hints of racism is really malicious and disgusting.

Second, "black" was not the only description of the alleged robber, as there were more characteristics offered, as well as a description of the car he drove, and the actions he took. In no way were they implying to be on the look out for a black man at all.

I hope you have a succesful operation, but please stop in your malicious and hateful ways. Ditmas Park Blog may be misinformed on certain occasions, but certainly not racist.

  2. Akiva,

This is the second time that Ben has done this. The first incident is the one that you refer to but they have done it again within the last week.

They are misinformed and racist. They refuse to promote minority businesses, they are trying to run out the few remaining minority businesses including my hair salon on Cortelyou, and they use their familial ties to harass and intimidate those that get in their way.

Did I mention that they ban blacks from posting comments on the website?

    They are racists.

  3. Oh yeah! They don't promote any businesses owned by blacks. You're right! It was a hacker who came on and posted about Sacred Vibes, not Ben or Liena.

  4. How would they ever know the skin color of the posters unless it was self-divulged? When I signed up for a google identity so I could comment on their website, I didn't have to indicate race/creed/color or religion. I've also never discussed my skin color on their blog as it's not relevant. Many people post on their blog and not a single one of them were forced to disclose their identity or any identifying characteristics if they chose not to, that's the beauty of the internet and the written word.

How do you know the skin color of your readers? What color am I? Maybe it's just you that isn't allowed to post.

  5. Eloise,

As you have noted, you've got your own issues and anxieties so I hope you don't stress out about completely non-existent ones like this post.

That being said, this is the greatest blog of any type in the history of the internet.

  6. It's true. The Ditmas Park Blog has a special race detector built into it. If the system identifies a black poster, his/her message is diverted to the message ghetto.
